Old Toy Figure

By rasellersjr, 8 May, 2010
Description

I found this about 1' deep in the dirt with my metal detector. I doesn't stick to a magnet so I'm assuming it is cast lead. My parents have owned this house for 35 years, and the former owners had no children, so the only likely origin could possibly be pre 20th century. Prior to this communities existence, Green Haven, MD was a getaway for people of Baltimore City, which is only a minutes boat ride across the creek. They would come over here for picnics and outings on the beach. The first pic is full frontal, it is missing part of a leg and a hand. The second pic is from the back, you can see that it was hinged and the parts could move; however, after so many years in the dirt, they are no longer mobile. The third is a head shot, the face looks like a Chinese monkey, a bit weird. The fourth pic is a side view of the hinges. Any information on this thing would be appreciative.
