Re: Original 1953 Playboy w/ Marilyn Monroe
Awesome piece. Definitely valuable but everything is about condition, condition, condition. If it's in good condition throughout with no writing or tears you may want to consider having it graded. Companies can grade it just like a comic book or a baseball card and if it's in great shape and it receives a good grade the value will increase.
The prices fluctuate greatly with minor condition flaws. If you look at Ebay sales results you'll see the best specimens selling for $1500-$2000. With minor rips and tears the value is nearer $1000. Missing pages and more serious damage down to $500.
Even the REPRINTS (although limited edition) sell for $200.
These are auction values. Some sellers will ask for much more, but auction results, in my opinion, are the most accurate ways to gauge true value. If you have an Ebay account check them out for yourself.
