Oshkosh luggage "The Cheif"

By NikkiP, 27 July, 2010
Description

This trunk was left over from an auction. No one wanted it because it was locked with out a key. I paid $20 for it and took to a lock smith and had it unlocked and key made for $10.
It's in amazing condition, the leather and hardware are mint. It is a lovely pale cream/yellow with red and yellow strips w/ red interior. It opens and glides on its wheels like a dream. It is in next to perfect condition inside but it is missing it's drawers.
It still has it's original 'Oshkosh' sale tags on it, sold for $325.
It seems that it was only bought and only used for storage, it has a storage tag on it, stored in a Boston storage company.

History
Oshkosh was organized in March, 1902. The company was sold in 1939 to The Plotkin Brothers of Chicago, the name changed to Oshkosh Trunks and Luggage and went out-of-business in 1962. If the exterior is beige duck cloth with red and white stripes, the trunk is from the front line, the Chief. Started business in 1912, and stuck it out for many years. They made suitcases, wardrobes, and smaller bags. Built to last, and very attractive. If you find one of these it's usually in very good condition.
