Please Help! Identifying Artist Signature

Profile picture for user dgreen1966

Description

This painting was handed down when my mother passed away. She purchased it years ago at a yard sale here in the Hudson Valley, NY. It has no identifiers on the frame however it does have a signature on the bottom right hand corner of the painting. This in itself does not help! It is very hard to decipher as you can see. To add to the problem it looks to be a foreign last name which means that it is not as east to spell as Smith or Jones. When looked at it can be any variation of letters. The first etter when looked at appears to be an "R" but in the second picture it looks as if it is a "P" with letters following it. Then the last name? Could start as "Sno" or "Sal". You  can clearly see my dilema unless ofcourse you know the artist name by sight. Please, Please, Please HELP! I have been trying to figure this out for years and have put many hours of research into this and would like to know who painted it and the history of this painting. Thank you for any help you can give!

My eyes are crossed from looking at it and my fingers hurt from googling! Any help that anyone can give me in dsciphering the artist of this painting will be greatly appreciated!

There seems to be something written in pencil on the front of the painting. I am not sure if this was done on purpose or something that someone wrote after the fact. I included a picture of this. Also it looks like there were intentional things painted into the painting. Ofcourse i can not dicipher this either. I have included a picture of this as well.

The painting looks to be professionally framed and I do not wish to remove it from the frame. It measures approx 45" x 45" so it is rather large.

Please ask any questions that you may have that will aide in figuring this out and I will answer as quickly as I can.
