I took this to an Antiques Roadshow booth at local trade show. Appraiser said it was very very old, could be Spanish or Moorish in origin. He thought the metal around the enamel images was gold and that the vessel was probably made to hold alcohol. He suspected that it was likely Moorish as bird and flower motif was typical and Moors were first to teach Spanish to do enamel work. The vessel has been banged around alot, but otherwise is in very good condition, considering its age. The appraiser also believed it was a museum quality example of early enamel technique. He was unable to attach a price to the item and suggested I contact a specific museum in Ontario to get more information as this piece was out of his league. I have not yet contacted this museum. I may be interested in selling this piece in the near future, but right now, I just want to know more about it.
