What you have is a 15 gallon sourkraut crock, which is a pretty modern example which was made right through the 1930's. They were used primarily for making pickles or sourkraut, originally they came with a matching lid. Values for them are not all that great, most of this size at auction often sell in the $45-$90.00 range.
