I am by no means a silver collector or dealer but I can tell you that I was in an antique shop when a lady came in trying to sell some of her grandmother's silver. The dealer rejected it, telling her that the value of silver has gone down significantly and that she should either sell it for scrap to any jeweler, from which she could likely get $500-600, or wait until the silver market improves. He said that people do not like having to polish silver every few months.
