Tell City Rolltop Desk

By gfields2, 23 January, 2018
Description

This is a Tell City Rolltop desk that came out of a post office in a small town around 1964.  The post office was established in 1882 but I'm not sure if this desk was there at that time.  The dimensions are 48" wide, 45" tall, and 30" deep.  It appears it was put together with dovetails and shims to tighten everything up.

History
This was in a small town post office established in 1882 in Texas. Not sure when it arrived at the post office but I know it left in 1964 when the new post office was built. I also attached pictures of the chair that left with it although I do not know if they were together originally. The chair has USG engraved on it. In good condition for the age. I would like to see what others think.

Re: Tell City Rolltop Desk

Wondering if anybody can provide a guesstimate as to when this was made and what it might be worth.  I want to donate it to the local museum and it would help to know more about it.
