This is a china cabinet/bookcase originally from England, in oak I believe. The glass in the doors is original, and the doors slide open on a track rather than open with a hinge. I believe there may have originally been wooden shelves inside - the inside has a "sawtooth" system to hold shelves. But it came with no shelving and so glass shelves were made for it. The bottom of the piece has a door on either side with oak leaf and acorn carvings and the two small middle doors also have raised relief carving. The corners and joints all have oak leaf carving. It is in two pieces and is extremely heavy.
