Vintage Bottle of Chianti (1971)

By Pastafazooli, 5 February, 2015
Description

A few years back my mother-in-law passed away and we inherited her household belongings in Amarillo, Texas where she was born, raised and lived.

This interesting bottle of Chianti was one of her possessions.  It measures about 44.4 inches tall and about 8.5 inches wide at it's base.  It looks to be 2 half pieces of glass fused together.

According to my wife, her mother was once married to someone who owned a gas station there in Texas (probably Amarillo, but I can't be sure).  The bottle of Chianti came by way of a customer, who offered it to the store owner because he didn't have any cash.

I've looked online to see if there are any other bottles like this one, and while there are some that appear similar in style, I've not found any that are this large size.  Most I've seen are about 12-16 inches tall.

I'm interested in knowing the history of this bottle and what value it might have.

This is my first post, so forgive me for any rookie mistakes.  I wasn't sure what category this would best go under, so I opted for "General Antiques and Collectibles" though I suppose one could argue it's not old enough to be an antique.
