I would love to have an appraisal on this vinage/antique looking unmarked matte green vase made of a tan earthenware type clay. The vase has no marking on the bottom but the mold mark is clearly evident on the bottom but very hard to see on the sides of the vase. The bulb shape bottom of the vase is approximately 6-1/2 inches wide. The tall skinny neck has no flare at the top. It is distincly striaght. The matte green vase is thick as you can see from the picture of the bottom. You can see where the company ground the glaze flat to match the bottom of the vase. There are no chips or cracks and just a few fish eyes in the glaze. As you can see from the top of the vase looking down into the vase there is some dripping of the glaze inside but it is not completely covered. The bottom is unglaze. The overall height of the vase is approximately 13-1/2 inches tall. I would love to have some idea of who the maker is. I see a lot of vases on the internet with similar matte green vases but I can't seem to find the shape. There are a lot of famous marks with similar glaze but they are all marked. I am assuming this is a lesser known knockoff type of vase to the famous makers of similar time period. Thank you so much in advance for your help. Robert aka "cigaby" Purchased from a thrift store, so I know no history.
Re: Vintage Matte Green Pottery 13-1/2 tall Vase
It's what's called a bottle vase, the shape goes way back to early Chinese porcelain. This one is a low cost molded decorator vase that would have been sold in department stores, originally it would have had a paper or foil label to indicate it's origins. Un marked molded vases like this have very modest values, often under $20.00 on Ebay.
