My Uncle brought these back from Europe, I believe Germany, in the 1950s. They were already "old" at that time, however I am not sure how old.
They are aprox 15" sq, project from the wall 3-4" and are solid and heavy. They seem to be made of some sort of plaster or ceramic type material.
They are of an elderly man and woman, each in a window. Each have hands that would have held something like needle work for her and maybe an item for him to be carving.
The backs have no markings on them.
