I bought this jug some 30 years again from an antique shop. I have no idea where it came from but I would like to know it's value. If memory serves I paid $40 for it.

The jug has a chip around the lip, otherwise in good condition.

Unfortunately without any makers markings or distinctive artwork, there is no way to determine maker or specific age. This most likely dates from the early to mid 19th century. It's value in the retail world is pretty much what you paid, slightly less in the auction world/person to person transaction.
