White Chinese Incense Burner

Description:
The item is a Chinese-style incense burner made of a white material, likely jade or a jade-like stone, based on the photos provided. It has three carved legs, looped handles, and an intricately designed lid featuring carvings of what appear to be two tigers or mythical creatures. The overall design suggests a traditional Chinese influence, commonly seen in artifacts intended for ceremonial or decorative use.

Material:
To confirm the material, a professional evaluation may be necessary. If genuine, jade is a highly prized material in Chinese art and can significantly influence the value of the item. If it is a jade simulant or other stone, the value would be lower but still appreciated for its craftsmanship.

Size:

  • Length: 7.5 inches
  • Height: 6.2 inches
  • Width: 4 inches

Condition:
The item is in good condition, showing some signs of age and wear, which adds character and authenticity to vintage pieces.

History:
The seller purchased this item in Japan, but the design and style suggest it originated in China. This kind of incense burner was typically used for burning incense during religious rituals, meditation, or as a decorative piece symbolizing wealth and cultural heritage.

Estimated Value:

  • If the material is genuine jade: $500–$2,000, depending on the quality of the jade and the intricacy of the carving.
  • If it is made from a less valuable stone or jade simulant: $150–$400, considering its artistic and decorative value.

For an exact appraisal, consulting a specialist in Asian antiques or a jade expert is recommended. They can provide material testing and detailed market insights.
