Wood armoire / wardrobe

I bought this armoire / wardrobe from a family. I thought about purchasing it and refinishing it. After I got home and examined it, I noticed a lot of scratches and one area where a child had engraved "mom". The keyed opening is broken but can be opened by turning with a screwdriver. There is a mirror on the front that is in good condition.  The two drawers in the base are in fairly good condition. There are a couple of places where the edges have been banged against something.  There is a metal plate attached to the inside of the door. It reads Furniture - Decorators - Gardners - A. Gardner & Son -Jamaica Street, Glasgow. I am trying to contact a couple of people that deal with antique restoration to see about restoring the scratches. Does anyone have any idea what this item might be worth? Any tips on what to do or not to do in regards to restoration?
