Imari-Colored porcelain jug with crossed lines and dots on the bottom

Description

I think that this piece, although damaged (see detail of handle and spout), and repaired, is gorgeous. I have exhausted every other (free) resource and have had no luck finding out exactly what I have here. I normally don't pay $50 for something I can't identify, but I had a good feeling about this and really liked the piece. I am relatively certain that it is neither Chinese nor Japanese, notwithstanding the clear Oriental influence. I believe it might be English, and I think it might be old. If you have any ideas, I would be greatful to know your thoughts. Thanks in advance to all who help.

The item is glazed porcelain with paint and gilding beneath the glaze.
Distinguishing marks
There is a prominent, underglaze, handdrawn mark featured on the bottom, as shown in the accompanying photos. I am told that the piece may be early Rockingham Pottery Works (or its predecessors)

Possibly late 18th/early 19th Century (so I am told by one expert).

Gone through my encyclopedia of British marks and I found 2 similar (the X or cross and dots)..... E.T Leaper of Cornwall 1954-? and also St.Ledger, with a piece from 1950, no idea when this potter started.

That's all I found similar, its a start. Good luck.

If you are into British pottery get "The Encyclopedia of British Pottery and Porcelain marks" By Geoffrey Godden. Lovejoy from this site recommended it to me and I love it. Found it cheap used on Amazon.com.
