Dark Oak Roll Top Desk. Smaller as if for a child or a woman. 2 deep drawers on right and 1 top center drawer. Ink stamp on back: Made by Paris Mfg Co,No 642, South Paris, ME USA
Sounds like a single pedestal roll top, most date from the turn of the 19th Century through the 1920's. Values for the smaller ones varies depending on design/style, but most sell for $400.00- $800.00 at auction.
I just posted a dining set with the Paris manufacturing ink stamp.. What info. , if any did u find on the company, its products, etc?
Anything is helpful..
"Paris Manufacturing Co. was founded by Henry Morton in 1861. It was better known for making sleds and skis, but the company also made desks of various kinds and toys. Paris Manufacturing became Paricon Inc. in 1978 and is still in business, making all sorts of sleds, toboggans and snow toys. Paricon owns rights to the well-known Flexible Flyer trademark.
I also have a piece made by the Paris Mfg Co. It is a small childs chair. I have been trying to find something on this company. Can anyone lead me in that direction?
