Description

The bell is in great shape. Lettering says O.S. Bell & Co. Hillsboro O. on one side.

No. 1 Yoke 1886 on the other. The carriage is also in great shape and is marked #1 Upright 1886. I tried unsuccessfully to attach pictures. I have plenty if there is maybe an email address I could send them to. Thank you very much.

My own research concludes it is from the O.S. Bell foundry in Hillsboro Ohio that closed down in the 50's.

The manufacturer is C.S. Bell, not O.S. Bell.

Many bells were manufactured and sold with the name O.S. Bell Co. Hillsbrough,Oh ---- right in the casting !!

It's C.S. BELL......which stands for...CHARLES SINGLETON BELL.....the man who founded the foundry in Hillsboro....

I have a bell marked, I think, "O. S. Bell Company" and "Hillsboro, O" and marked with a "2" and "UPRIGHT" and a date "1886". I'd like to find out as much as I can about the company, the bell, when it might have been made and approximate value. I was raised on a farm in Ky and the bell was mounted on a post in the backyard. I have a cast iron bell that is marked 1 and is a 1886. It is a large bell, maybe a dinner bell that might have been use on a farm or ranch. It comes from a company named The Bell Co. from Hillsboro, ohio, Crystal Metal. I also am looking for a price for it. Hard to find any information about it. [email protected]

We just bought an 1886 #1 C.S. Bell cast iron bell for $150.00. The asking price was $250.00. Hope ths helps.

I have a Nordemende Turandot German-made radio. Although not from the 1940s advertising agencies or 1950s; it is a tube radio made around 1962; probably nearly the last of homeowners insurance its kind. The cabinet is pretty clean with no serious blemishes (chips, cracks or discolorations). The speaker grille cloth is also in good condition (no rips or tears). It works... but crackles and cuts in and out when a key or switch is pressed.fitness equipment

I have a No 24 with a 24" base Cast Iron Bell. OS Bell co from the late 1800's circa. Found in a creek in N.C. Would like to find new owner as I've had it for around 16yrs as a great conversation piece. All together but needs some TLC and has no stand. Any suggestions as what to do or ask for it? I am curious as to where you found information about C.S. Bell Foundary in Hillsboro, ohio closing in the 50's? I wasn't born until 1977 and I still remember my mother dropping my father off for work at the foundary each morning before we were taken to school in the 80's.

Happy Hello = My grandparents lived one (1) block from this C.S. Bell Foundry. Our grandfather worked there for years. I visited often with my Father when I was a young child = took grandpa his lunch on Saturdays and our Father loved watching the work. Scary to me when they opened the doors to the huge furnaces to shovel in loads of coke (not the drink). This very old foundry was hot and smelly to me; but I grew to love it. A family owner gave me an old ribbon from late 1800's and catalog book and even an 1880s large farm type bell. Yes, I still have all of the items and they are about only things we are not selling. The bell stays inside my home.

I use to drive this one owner nuts, as every time he turned around I was running up and ringing that bell and would hug it to stop it ringing. I just loved that bell. It sounded wonderful. So on my 8th birthday, he gave it to me. He said I could now ring it all I wanted and drive the entire neighborhood nuts and let them deal with me. ha ha.

I stood on a chair, hugging that bell till our Father put it on a dolly and pulled it back to our grandparent's home down the main road as we could not take the short cut up the dirt alley. People saw me with that bell and knew how proud I was, because I told them the owner gave it to me for my birthday. I had our Father put the bell in ourgrandparent's house so I could watch it till we left that night.

TO CLEAR UP SPITS AND SPATS HERE = Our great grandparents, grandparents, parents and the two of us knew all of these owner's and employee's personally.

Original Owner's Name was = Charles Singleton Bell. Thus the C.S. Bell.
