Description
Solid Birch table w/ 4 original chairs and 2 leafs in their original velvet covers. Was sold to me at a garage sale for $200. Has Jefferson Woodworking Co. stamped on the inside rim of the table. Would like to know the value of this set and around when it was made. There are a couple of scratches and water stains, overall not too bad. I have thought about refinishing it, but had heard that if you refinish an antique the value would drop dramatically. If you think I should not refinish it, please let me know what I can do in order to repair the small scratches and water stains. Please contact me at [email protected] if you have any information.
Thanks,
Darcy
Re: Dining Room Table
Your table is relatively new, these were made from the 1930's right through the 1950's. They are based on English pieces made during the early 19th Century. Values for them depend a great deal on the wood type, with mahogany or walnut examples being the most sought after. Those made of light colored hard woods such as maple or birch sell for less, generally for under $400.00. Jefferson primarily made parts for furniture such as table extention sliders, they went out of business during the 1990's.
