sword is made of steel, i did a magnet test as found online and the magnet does indeed stick to the blade, i have many knock off's that are very light weight but this one is simi heavy at about 8lb inside the sleath, the brass fittings on the sleath and the brass desgins on the handle are both starting to turn green in spot this is the only real wear on the sword, there is no markings on the sword or sleath detailing to where its from, who made it, or even what yr it was made in.

Hi, your pictures aren't the greatest, but I can give you a little info. The wavy line on the blade is called a 'temper line' created from folding, but I need to know, is the blade edged or false edged. It's probably carbon steel, not stainless steel. If this is a true antique katana sword you should be able to disassemble it. Look for a pin in the handle that can release all the components, it is probably a rat tail tang, but look for any signatures on the tang (Metal inside the handle) a real handmade sword will have markings on the tang (Asian characters) about the maker and when it was made. Otherwise it's just a mass produced replica ceremonial/fantasy sword. Some of these swords ere replicated even in the 50's, but without better pics and more information it's too hard to tell
