My uncle worked for a restaurant back in the 1940's where the restaurant made my uncle take a handful of these machines home w/ him. Only a couple of those machines were ever used for that job - the other ones have been stored in my grandparents attic for the last 60 years now. Most of the Jiffy Dog Machines are in "NEW Condition". Meaning, they were never ever used to heat up hot dogs and are basically in MINT Condition. I've tested the ones my grandparents own, just to see if they still work, and they do - they heated up right away. Each of the machines come in their original boxes w/ their own original number on top of the box. Also, my grandparents still have the original cartons and clips that are required to make the machine work and just like the hot dog machines, the cartons and clips are also 60 - 70 yrs old in NEW/MINT Condition and everything works Perfectly. Also, the machines have the original lightbulb that was 1st put in them back in the 1940's as well as the original front screen and original plugs that are also in new condition.
The machine that I currently have listed on ebay, IS NOT one of the good ones - Please Do NOT give me an appraisal for how much a broken one is worth - Actally, the one on ebay Does work, just the timing mechanism is off but I know it can easily be repaired but, it still heats up a hot dog perfectly. I do have a couple left that are in NEW condition that I'm NOT planning on selling as of yet.
Please just let me know how much one of these "Good/NEW" machines are really worth as I have sold a couple - I'd rather not say how much I sold them for as of yet bc I'm just very curious to know what you believe they are worth?!?
I apologize as I don't have any pics of the good machines - all the pics I have right now are of the one that is not in the best of shape on ebay but it gives u an idea.
Re: Vintage 1940's Jiffy Hot Dog Machine -
i'm just curious if anyone happens to know any other history about this item, or, what it may be worth both in this condition and of another one that i have that is in MINT condition w/ both the cartons and clips and having 1 original instruction/history booklet of this machine as well.
does anyone have any ideas?!?
