Corona cigar box

By grandmakatybear, 6 December, 2009
Description

This is an old Corona cigar box. It's plastic (clear) and has a hinged top. On the bottom of the box, there is patten no. 2,677,478. There is also a "text" box with a large "E" outside and to the left of the box. Inside the box, the text reads "The cigars contained herein were manufactured to retail at more than eight cents each and not more than fifteen cts. each and are so tax paid." Under that box, there is an elongated oval with "FACTORY No. 70C"
and under that is "DISTRICT OF LA." To the right side of the factory no. is a circle with "10" in it, which I assume to mean there were at one time 10 cigars in the little box. The label on top is in rough condition, but I can read "Corona". The label is oval with a dark gold boarder, narrow at the top, wider at the sides and bottom. There is a black inner boarder at the bottom of the oval where there is some writting. I can make out part of the word - "...of MIL....GARS". There is a picture of a lady with black hair, sort of a semi-profile with her looking over her left shoulder. She had a long dangle earring on the ear you can see and is wearing a red off the shoulder dress or top. The item didn't photograph well at all.
