This chair is leather and metal and in great condition. There are only a couple of scuff marks on the metal and the metal on the foot rests are a little worn. There is no date marked on the chair. It is very ornate.
Hi, I am busy stripping my late farther's chair to redo the upholstery. It is exactly the same as yours albeit not in such excellent condition. When I removed the leatherette from the backrest I found a date stamp of 1891. I live in South Africa and my dad stood behind that chair for over60 years of his life, hope I can do some justice to it.
Re: Theo A. Kochs Antique Barber Chair
Without seeing your chair, I loaded my images. When I went back to the home page, I saw the 2 chairs above each other. What a co-incidence.
I love your chair. It will be nice to know whether your's and mine are more or less the same age. Do you have anything of Columbia on your chair?
Regards
Barbara
