antique twin bed

By sgoodenough, 29 September, 2010
Description

Other than what you see in the pictures I know nothing about the age, style, type of wood or value of this bed. I have owned it for 26 years. It has moved several times, my youngest has used it the last few years. It is very solid & sturdy and one tough bed!! I have never refinished it or done ANYTHING to change it appearance, never had to glue, nail or screw anything back together. It has some damage on teh footbaord. Side rails look to be original, they were what came with the bed when I bought it.

Re: antique twin bed

Your bed isn't really all that old as these things go, it actually dates from the second quarter of the 20th Century. Originally it would have been part of a complete bedroom set. Pieces with veneer damage tend to have rather modest value, as repairs to veneer is an expensive and few know how to do it properly.
