Wooden Horse/Jockey with Iron Cart

By lisadbaker, 12 October, 2010
Description

Both the horse and rider are made of solid wood, as is the seat of the cart. The cart is iron as well as the reins. All of the parts were intact when I purchased it and the color is really great. Would love to know if anyone knows how old this is, history and approximate value. I actually love it and can't imagine selling it, but if it is really valuable I might consider it.

Re: Wooden Horse/Jockey with Iron Cart

Hard to tell without actually examining it, but it looks like a reproduction. These came out in the 1980's and were used as filler stock in Antique stores. These pieces used faded paint and artifically aged metal to give them the look of being antique, for people that wanted the " Folk Art"  look without having to spend a thousand dollars.
