Long Description
It is a very beautiful and very ornate tiger oak buffet with a mirror. It has a top shelf, 2 columns with small shelves on each side, then the top, 2 drawers a large open area with 2 doors and then a long drawer on the bottom. There is no trim missing no nicks. The only condition problems per se are that the bottom has been replaced with a piece of metal and atĀ one time the 3 drawers locked but my grandmother kept losing the keys so my uncle removed the locks andĀ they were lost. All of the handles and drawer and door pulls are there and are original.Ā
History
My grandmother bought it at an antique store in Acworth GA & my mother inherited it & then I inherited it

Re: Antique Tiger Oak Buffet
YourĀ quarter-sawn oak buffet has great detail, very pleasing to the eye and certainlyĀ would makeĀ a statement inĀ any room. Lovejoy noted on a similar appraisal that this style is of the Empire Revival period. The feet can't be seen from the front, but do appear to have the scrolled curviture of thatĀ period. It likely dates from about 1890-1900 and seems in good condition. It's not clear whether it's been refinished or not. I suggested a value of less than $800 for another similar buffet to yours. I think that was a fair value and would suggest the same for your piece, perhaps $675-$775, always depending on condition. I closed the small business I had recently, but if I had this piece or the other one similar to this IĀ appraised, Ā I would have put a priceĀ around $800 on it, but might have gotten a little less.
