Cameo on black background (3-D)

Profile picture for user marynsunny31

Description

This item was passed on to me. I had never seen it before. It is a cameo pendant. Fancy gold tone setting. The cameo is resting on a thick black base. The cameo carving itself is a white/ligtest creme color. It is raised toward the middle like a 3-D effect. I do not know what it is made out of or if it was reset. Any information would be welcome. Thank you

Re: Cameo on black background (3-D)

At the top of the Women's head where the black surface meets, there are three small indentations.

Re: Cameo on black background (3-D)

I beleive this is a piece of 1950-60's costume piece made from molded plastic....to check if it is plastic, take a hot needle and on the back press the tip into the black substance....if it leaves a mark and "melts" it is molded plastic.  Most cameo's in black sell for less than their colored counterparts, but your's is pretty. It would sell for less than $25.00 if plastic.
