Antique Metal Jar

Description

I got this from a thrift shop yesterday.  I really want to know it's real value but i have no way of doing it for free.  I search the internet and a link led this site to me.  I'm a newbie so i hope you guys will  forgive me if i don't know anything about this thing.  I hope you guys can help me appriase it.  Thanks a lot.

I'm not really sure whats it made of but my guess is it brass.

Nothing that I know of.

Size and dimensions of this item
Height: 9.25 inches. Width of the body: 4 inches. Mouth opening: 3 inches diameter. Neck Width: 1.3 inches. Base: 2.25 inches diameter.
Date Period
The counter says it's antique. I just don't know if it really is.
Weight
I really dont know, but my best guess is around 1 lb.
History
As I said, I got this from a thrift shop. It's a beauty, so i bought it. I hope you guys can help me appraise it.
Price Paid (If known)
700 Philippine Peso (about 15 to 18 US Dollars).

sadly this is most likely a new brass vase, if it is old the patina has been polished off which would severely affect value, its hard to say any more for sure without seeing any makers marks on it. You have to be careful with things labeled as antique in thrift stores as the items they receive are, in most cases, donated, so they have little or no idea of the actual age or history of the items they sell...

After searching in the net, I strongly think it's made in India.  Can anyone give me a rough estimate of it's value? I would really appreciate it. Thanks
