1943 ww2 african pottery

By big mike, 11 October, 2010
Description

Antique african pottery from 1943 during ww2. I believe this pottery to be brought back from ww2 from one of our troops maybe as souvenirs. I bought them at an estate sale and was told many of the old items belonged to a past loved one. The 2 jugs have a language writing on them that i cant translate both on the front and bottom. The bowl says bizerte 1943 which like oran is another part of africa during the war.

(Arabic) Hi I am new here, and just saw your pot/  I love looking up info on things like this. I have yet to find the words  that match yours. I beleave it's Arabic. and I do think your right about being something the troops brought back from the war.. why else would it have a date of 1943 on only reason is to remember where they were at that time.. I will keep looking to see if I can read the writings, I will let you know... The true value on this pot is the serch of  finding out who and why?

Re: 1943 ww2 african pottery

Thank you phoenixguy1954. I have already contacted someone who speaks Arabic fluently and he has assured me the symbols aren't Arabic. I think it's an African tungsten language of which there are many. Thank you for taking your time to help me. I hope you find more information. I really really would like to decipher this.

Re: 1943 ww2 african pottery

Thank you phoenixguy1954. I already contacted someone who speaks Arabic fluently and he assured me the symbols aren't Arabic. I did a little research and think its a lost African language tongue. I hope you find more information than me. Really want to know what these symbols mean. Again thank you for taking your time to help.
