1896? S Curve Roll Top Desk

Description

We received what were were told was an 1896 S Curve Roll Top Desk. Was purchased about 50 years ago from an antique dealer who had said it came from London around 1896. There are no makers marks on the desk and the desk is in wonderful condition. Has never been refurnished and all drawers still work and is not missing any parts. Would love to know more about it if possible.

Rolltops like this were made from the turn of the 19th Century through the 1920's. They hit a peak of popularity in the 1990's, and have had a decline in values since that time. Currently at auction comparable desks like this now often sell in the 300-500 range.

It's too bad you missed the peak of the market, we used to sell any we could get our hands on in a matter of days for over $2000.00, now they sit around for over a month at under a $1000.00.
