Description
3 great pictures of Japanese ladies (Geisha?) that were drawn by Japanese POW's and traded in exchange for cigarettes. One picture has Japanese writing on it. They are in what I would consider excellent condition. I can't tell if the weathering/stains are from age or originally on the sheets prior to the drawings. Amazingly good and beautiful pictures. Wife put them in frames many years ago. I've found nothing else like them anywhere after weeks of searching the internet. Can anybody help with value and additional history?

My dad was on Guam during WWII. We have a large colored pencil reproduction of the picture of Mom and me that he had with him. It was done on a bedsheet and the price was a carton of cigarettes. I have also just found two additional drawings, I think by the same artist. Both have a mountain in the background (Fuji?) and water, geisha, etc. in the foreground. Apparently this was common? The one is signed ABCV. Anybody know anything more?

I looked at some auction records, pictures like yours have sold for $200.00 per picture. if your intent is to sell on the retail market I would suggest a certified appraisal.
The history behind them is invaluable.
