Did a little more research & your jar is cute, but does look like a reproduction....it is still worth something, as long as you disclose it is a look-a-like. http://www.the-old-cookie-jar-shop.com/counterfeits
Here is the wording from a July, 1998 newspaper clipping that was inside a cookie jar that looked EXACTLY like yours in an antique store in Louisville, KY. I took a photo of the cookie jar AND the clipping because I, too, have the same cookie jar. My grandmother always had it on her counter, then my mom on hers. Now that both of them are gone, I have it on mine. (I was born in 1955) I was pretty shocked to find it in this fancy schmancy antique shop! I've never thought about it being worth anything ... just knew it had immense sentimental value for me.
"Q. I have had a standing pig cookie jar for years. The pig has a green neck scarf and a white outfit decorated with green shamrocks. He has his hands in his pockets and is 11 1/4 inches tall. The only mark is "U.S.A."
"A. Your cookie jar, called Smiley Pig, was made by the Shawnee Pottery of Zanesville, Ohio. The pottery worked from 1937 to 1961 and made lots of cookie jars, as well as dinnerware, flowerpots, lamps and kitchen ware.
"Smiley Pig was made in many variations of colors and decorations. Your pig is valued at $400 to $500. If he had gold trim, he would be worth $600 to $700."
The cookie jar in the shop (the one like yours) was priced at $350. I was thrilled that my little pig was worth anything at all. As far as yours (or mine) being a forgery, I can't imagine why anyone would go to the trouble.
