I saw one on The Antiques Road Show. I don't remember how much they said it was worth but it was alot. I would contact a good antique dealer on this so your not sorry selling it for a couple thousand to later find out it was worth lots more. I saw a slave cloths iron worth 25'000.00 anything from the slave era is worth lots.

I have a collar similar to yours. It has the same date but a different city. Were you able to find info on the authenticity or value of your collar? Thanks, Don

This market is loaded with fakes, such pieces really need to be examined by specialists to determine their authenticity. Here's a link for you all http://www.ferris.edu/jimcrow/letters/civilwar.htm

Here is a site with fake tags and collars. Yours is exactly like one on here. http://www.savage-station.com/page4.html
