Late 19th Century Porcelain Tea Set

Description

I have tried to discover who made these, but to no avail. I believe they are English or French, late 19th century. I have searched the backstamp all over, but am not able to find either a similar backstamp or a similar pattern. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to my question. Based on your suggestion, I researched both of Kovell's maker's mark books and did a thorough search on the Internet for Sevres marks. I couldn't find the same mark in the square. However, I really appreciate your suggestion and will continue looking with Sevres in mind.

It's not Sevres. The RD marking is a British design registry marking, a kind of patent for designs granting protection of the design for three years. The number on it dates it to 1890.

Thank you so much for your comment. I was told by a friend who is an authority on German/Austrian porcelain that it was an English backstamp, but that is all he knew about it. At least now I have a date period for it. I appreciate your time and reply.

Regards,

David
