Profile picture for user Lovejoy
By Lovejoy, 19 February, 2017
Accurate Description of Item
One Pair of George & Martha Washington Lamps
Appraiser Remarks
These lamps are not yet antiques, most of them post date World War Two (1945), my mother received a pair ( brand new) as wedding gifts in 1947.

Although commonly called George and Martha Washington lamps, the decorative figures adorning these porcelain lamps actually represent members of the court of French King Louis XV around 1765.

The decorative figures are usually in various states of romance, picnics, dancing, poetry, singing, etc. The original paintings on many of these lamps were originally from the French artist Jean- Honoré Fragonard (1732-1806). George and Martha lamp decorations represent Fragonard's much more reserved paintings.
Estimated Value
$200.00- $250.00
