Hang On Ivory Factory Chess Set

By Thor1999, 2 December, 2014
Description

This ivory chess set was purchased by our family in the early 1960's while in Hong Kong. It is made by the Hang On Ivory Factory in Hong Kong. The set is complete and free of any damage or blemishes. It has been stored away and unused as a keep sake. The box is made of teak. The hand carved ivory pieces are 1 1/2 inches to 8 inches inches in height. One set of ivory was tinted brown. The original packing paper remains inside as well as the velvet interior and elastic holding bands. We would like to know its value.

Thank you.

Re: Hang On Ivory Factory Chess Set

Have you received any insight to this set? I have two of the exact same set and have found very little info on them.

Re: Hang On Ivory Factory Chess Set

Sets like this were made in very large numbers for the tourist market, most brough back by troops staioned in southeast Asia and Korea, most sell anywhere from $150.00- $300.00 depending on the quality of the carving.
