Rare Antique Fruit Jar? Independent Jar

By Kacinm, 6 March, 2016
Description

I recently bought a small lot of Ball Mason Jars. In the mix was a smaller jar with Independent Jar on the front. You can't tell from the pictures, but the glass has an ever so slight purple tint to it. I can tell it was hand blown from a few imperfections in the glass. From what I can tell this jar is fairly rare. I searched all over the Internet and was only able to find one very short paragraph stating that they were only made from 1882-1888. Unfortunately I do not have the lid for it, which I know devalues it tremendously :( But, it does seem to be in pretty good condition, minus one tiny chip at the very top of the jar. I'm just very curious as to what this jar is worth. Did I find a little gem in the $40 I spent (for about $100 worth of Ball Masons ranging from 1910-1940s)? Any help would be much appreciated!

Re: Rare Antique Fruit Jar? Independent Jar

about 15-20  they seem to sell for about 65-75$  with the lid and special insert with 2 knobs on it and the ring . the closure and the insert are worth a little more than the jar. if it wasnt damaged i coudl see it bring 25-30 .
