Description
This hutch was purchased from a Pennsylvania farmhouse that dates to the early 1800's. The hutch top can be removed from the bottom. There is some damage to the bottom right side of the top of the hutch which is original to when the item was purchased in the early 1970's. It appears to be made of pine.
Re: Antique Farmhouse Hutch
Your cabinet is in the "Colonial Revival Style" and dates to the second quarter of the 20th Century. Pieces like this look far older than they really are because they were designed to resemble Early American furniture. The style was very popular and just about every major furniture manufacturer in the USA produced a line of it until World War Two. Some pieces were home built by Hobbyist woodworkers from plans by magazines such as Popular Mechanics during the 1950's.
