Description
Could you possibly help me to identify the marking on the back of this teacup and saucer? I inherited two teacups and saucers from my parents, however I do not know when or where they were obtained. From my limited research, it seems to be Japanese Kutani Eggshell Porcelain, hand painted in the colours of red, blue, green and gold, with dark green and gold edging and handles. The picture depicts three Geisha girls near a pagoda. The spots making up the white flowers are raised. I cannot distinguish whether the marking on the back of the cups and saucers is a signature or a stamp. I would be very interested to know the approximate age, origin and if these are valuable.

Distinguishing marks
There is a small Japanese marking on the back of the teacups and saucers and I have been unable to ascertain whether it is a signature or not. This marking varies slightly on each cup and saucer.

Re: Japanese Eggshell Porcelain Tea Cups
It's late 40's early 1950's Japanese, a lot of these pieces were brought back by troops stationed in Japan after World War Two. Mark is for Suzuki Company, a distributor which had pieces made with its mark for sale and distribution. Presumably mid-20th century. Date likely to be around the 1950. Pieces like this often had a paper or foil label as well indicating the country of origin and the importer's company name, these seldom survive.
