Pre 1800 chest of drawers

By SaraCraft, 28 December, 2022
Description

Can anyone help me with this piece? I believe it is either early 1800s or pre 1800s, walnut. There is a coating on top. No markers. Handmade. From my research, the nails date to pre 1800s.

It's dates from the early…

It's dates from the early 1800's and appears to mahogany rather than walnut. Pieces like this were made right into the 1850's when the machine cut nails became more mainstream. The key is in the screws, the earlier screws are flat on the end with no point and predate 1846.

Wow awesome! Thank you. Do you think it’s worth anything? I can’t find it online at all. And was going to refinish but don’t know if I should.
