Antique carved dining table

Description

My grandmother purchased this table approximately 75 years ago. She lived in Hanover, NH at the time, so Im assuming it was purchased in the region. She thought it was a plain oak table, but discovered the carving under layers of dirt and dust. Despite being in my family for a long time, I still know nothing about it.

Tables like this date from…

Tables like this date from the turn of the 19th Century, the majority of the carving on these is machine made. They were a very hot item during the Victorian mad 1980's with comparable tables selling for over $1500.00. Most were made in Grand Rapids Michigan, then the Furniture capital of North America. One like this could go for about $800.00.
