Native American horsehair rug

By zaitsevzurich, 29 October, 2012
Description

I have two of these rugs they are identical they measure 3'11" wide by 11 feet long. They feel like they are made out of horsehair but I am unsure and they are hand woven. My great aunt's father purchased these rugs in the 1940s but she is unsure of the exact date. She thinks he purchased these rugs in New Mexico and that's why she thinks they are Native American. Rugs are in excellent condition no tears or stains they've been rolled up in plastic and moving paper since great grandfathers death in the 70's. My great aunt did not even know she still had these in storage until we just found them recently.

If anyone can tell me information about these rugs that would be great. I've been looking online and have been unable to come up with anything I cannot even tell what kind of bird is on the rug. We will entertain offers if anybody is interested in purchasing these rugs. Thank you.
