I an trying to find out who made this cedar chest. I can't find any marking on it except for some hand written numbers on the bottom. I'm looking for approx. value and manufacturer. Thanks
Short of finding a catalog with a matching picture to yours, finding out a maker or any history without some sort of company marking will be difficult. These chests were mass produced items and very popular after world War one (1918), there were a few big name makers such as Lane and Ed Roos, but virtually every furniture maker in North American made them during the 1920's to 30's. Unless in excellent condition we rarely sell one for more than $250.00 these days, comparable examples at auction often sell for about $75.00.
