Antique Chair with beautiful details

By jesssav, 24 July, 2015
Description

Hello,

I don't know anything about antiques. I have this chair, which was given to me from an old set off a theatre I used to work at. It's beautiful, but the upholstery is pretty damaged (see photos). I know that it's very old, and it looks like it was last reupholstered in 1964 (see photo of signed patch sewn into the chair under the seat pillow). Is it worth anything, in the state it's in? Would an antique shop or collector be interested in buying it and reupholstering it? Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you!

Re: Antique Chair with beautiful details

I need to move in a couple months and wondering if its worth selling this chair or not. It looks a little complicated to reupholster our else I'd go that route, it has amazing potential...

Re: Antique Chair with beautiful details

Chairs like this tend to date to the 1930's and values for them are very modest. "As Is" at auction comparables often go for less than $50.00.
