One 20th century Bronze of a 16th Century Cavalier in Armor
Appraiser Remarks
"Cavaliere 16’ seculo" is Portuguese and translates roughly to "16th Century Cavalier ". Figures like these have been in production for a considerable period of time, most since the turn of the 19th century. That said, the ones by well known Sculptors are nearly always very well marked with signatures and the mark of the foundry that cast them. Unmarked examples like this one tend to be mid 20th century reproductions and without documentation or any markings determining a maker is almost impossible. Comparable examples are still in production.
