This unit is not from the late 1940's.  It is actually one of the very first FM Stereo (multiplex) radios ever offered for sale.  It is from 1962, and FM Stereo was just approved by the FCC...and guess who had the U.S. Patent...Zenith Radio Corporation of Chicago.
