Meriden SP Co Soup Ladle

Description

This unusual ladle caught my attention and would love to know more.  On the back almost to ladle it states Pat APD For.  Middle of handle on back it states Meriden SP Co. and at base on back it states The Kentucky.  Would love to know more.  Had to remove enough tarnish with cleaner to fully read back but dont wish to do any further cleaning without info.  Thanks!
