This is a painting that I know nothing about...I did see it on Antique roadshow years ago and it was appraised at 20,000....I have also seen this painting on one of those shows about "Haunted paintings"....supposedly the baby will disappear from the crib and some other strange things happened..... hopefully someone could tell me about this painting

Nussknacker nutcracker, in the box the box is a little destroyed. He has a blue coat with gold buttons and red troussers, he also hold a sword. The box also says Hirschmann.
I recently got a three drawer dresser that is labeled Architectural Modern by Morris of California. I have been trying to research this company and can find little about them. Sadly it has been painted. With the exception of a small nick of one of the drawer fronts the wood is in appears to be in great shape. It measures 36L 18W 32H. I was wondering both value and if professional stripping it would increase the value. Thanks
