I have a Silsbee & Mohr gliding chair that I have not been able to find any information on and was wondering if you could please provide some for me. There is a plaque on it which reads
Could anyone tell me who made this piece of pottery?
it has incised or an impressed marking and numbers which is on the base- the letter is D and the three numbers are 775-
the jug has like moulded grape theme, mixed with flames and lines that form a pattern.
Originally the jug would of been gold crowns and swirly flower patterns and little fairy faces which are starting to fade, there is four hand drawn crown around the picture left, right, top, bottom. (Bottom crown is upside down)
inside the jug there seems to be little brown dots and Lumpy dots form a line. If I get a mirror there looks to be in fine brown pen, a J but squiggly/
there in the picture I thought was the Virgin Mary playing with a child, the child has wings.
does anyone know this picture of who these people might be.
Is the jug a davenport or a derby, or can anyone help me identify this,
I found the D marking in a book /made in Great Britain ceramics and pottery stamps - it says it is a later davenport but derby have the same D marking but I'm unable find proof any ware to say its a derby or royal derby,
four years I have searched high and low to find out who the jug is made by, and who the pretty lady and angel boy is-
i am also unable to find the pattern number 775 anywhere as davenport only went to 700 stamped with the same D- could this be a later davenport piece like what the book says. Also on the same page it has Herculaneum until 1845 impressed or printed a D.
please see photos and stamps any help I would be very grateful.
this appears to be a tie holder it hooks into a button hole and has a chain that goes around tie it has a skull and crossbones symbol with tiny red jewels for eyes with three triangles. the top is yellow, the bottom left blue, & the bottom right is red . the skull and crossbones is sitting on the top on the yellow triangle. there appears to be three swords one is stabbing down between yellow and blue triangle into the red triangle, the second stabbing down between the yellow and red triangle into the blue triangle the third is stabbing up between the blue & red triangles into the yellow triangle in the center is what appears to be an open book with a dagger laying on it handle down pointing up from right to left not really sure if this some kind of organization or society type symbol jewelry but any light that can be shed on this would be greatly appreciated .
