Inherited art work and have no idea where to start. I'd like to find out anything I can. Artist, time period, type of art (impressionism), original, reproduced, and of course if any are worth money. Where I may go to get further information.
This piece is framed in a wooden decorative frame, the painting is done on a beveled piece of wood. I can't make out if the artist signed it or not. It has some fading around the edges where it was inserted into the frame. It is a winter landscape scene with people on a pond or lake skating, enjoying a winter day outside. May have had a document attached because there are tape marks on the wood. It has the number 1258 with a circle around it and the letters "HO" "HOB 100f" 12345 crossed out. written in marker.
